Colonoscopy
Typically a face to face visit is required prior to a colonoscopy to review your health history and perform a physical exam. If you are asymptomatic and do not have a complicated medical history we will schedule you for a free phone call with a nurse to get you all the information you need and schedule you for your procedure. Contact us to get this process started.
We use endoscopy to look inside the body to make diagnoses, screen for and prevent cancer. In addition, endoscopy allows the gastroenterologist to treat conditions via the endoscope thereby avoiding surgery. Endoscopic treatments include removal and destruction of polyps and other lesions, treatment of bleeding, dilation of narrowed areas (strictures) and placement of stents to keep narrowed areas open.
Colonoscopy is the “gold standard” procedure for colon cancer screening and prevention. It is also used to investigate rectal bleeding, diarrhea, anemia and abdominal pain. Colonoscopy is a safe, routine procedure.
