The Endoscopy Center of Marin is located near Marin General Hospital and the Marin Gastroenterology office. It is Medicare certified and is accredited by the American Association of Ambulatory Health Care Centers.

The Endoscopy Center of Marin is a modern facility that provides a friendly and convenient location for your colonoscopy or upper G.I. endoscopy. The Center's staff is dedicated to your comfort and safety.

The Endoscopy Center of Marin participates in Medicare, most PPO and other insurance plans and all HMO plans affiliated with Marin IPA.

From Highway 101 southbound take the Sir Francis Drake Boulevard off ramp towards Kentfield and San Anselmo. From Highway 101 northbound take the San Anselmo off ramp to Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Continue westbound along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard to Bon Air Road (3 traffic lights from 101). Turn left onto Bon Air Road and drive past Marin General Hospital to the next traffic light at South Eliseo Drive. Turn left onto South Eliseo Drive. 1100 South Eliseo is 0.1 miles on the left.

Advice for Patients

Before your procedure:

  • You must arrange for someone to take you home after your procedure; it is neither safe nor legal for you to drive after receiving sedation. Your procedure will be cancelled if you do not have a designated driver.
  • Please ask only one person to accompany you.
  • You will be at the Endoscopy Center for about 1 1/2 hours. Your driver must be available 1 1/2 hours after your arrival time to take you home
  • Please read the instructions supplied by your doctor a few days before your procedure. If you have questions about the preparation required for your procedure, call your doctor.
  • The day before your procedure a nurse from the Endoscopy Center will call to confirm your appointment and to update your medical history.
  • Most patients are a little anxious before a procedure. Try not to worry. Relax; the procedure will be much easier than you think.

The day of your procedure:

  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing and leave jewelry and other valuables at home. A watch and rings, however, are okay..
  • Bring your insurance card and a complete list of all your current medications including their dosages.

After your procedure

  • Most patients are ready to go home 30-40 minutes after their procedure.
  • You will get your results before you go home. If biopsies were taken, the results will be available several days later from your doctor.
  • Due sedation received during your procedure, you will have trouble remembering what you are told in the recovery room before you go home However, you will receive written information regarding the results of your procedure together with instructions regarding your activities, diet and medications.
  • Expect to be drowsy and forgetful for the rest of the day. You should not plan on returning to work until the following day
  • Please remember that it is neither safe nor legal for you to drive for the remainder of the day after you have received sedation.
  • In the unlikely event that you have pain, fever, or bleeding after you leave the Endoscopy Center you should call the doctor who performed the procedure or go to the nearest hospital emergency department.
